This expressive piece began as an exploration of my favourite colours and has become a painting full of joyful, expressive marks. Beginning with intuitive mark making, I then built the layers of the painting, making decisions in the moment on value, design and colour. 
The title comes from a discussion with my children while painting it about what is needed to start a fire - the overall feeling of the painting is one of warmth, winter colours so I thought 'Heat and oxygen' was fitting. 
This piece was created on yupo paper and has been professionally matted and framed with an acrylic sheet for safe shipping. It is UV varnished for protection.
